Heidi Cooper is a first-year student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, studying Elementary Education. She is originally from Grand Island, Nebraska. Heidi has been dancing for 16 years at studios throughout her various home states, including Today’s Generation in Washington State, 28th Avenue Dance Studio in Wyoming, and Smitty’s Performing Arts Center and Create 308 Dance Academy in Grand Island, Nebraska. She has trained in styles including ballet, clogging, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, musical theater, kick, pom and hip hop, with her true passions being hip hop, pom and jazz. In the spring of 2019, Heidi graduated from Grand Island Northwest High School where she was the captain of the Vikettes Dance Team for 2 years, along with the dance captain of the varsity show choir group known as 14 Karat Gold. Heidi was also a part of the annual spring musical, where she held the role of core dancer for three years, and in her senior year, held the lead role of “Race” in Newsies. She recently finished her first summer working as an instructor for the National Dance Alliance, carrying out her passion by teaching technique classes and dance routines to high school dance teams at camps throughout the nation. This summer, Heidi also choreographed and set the show for Grand Island Central Catholic’s show choir. Heidi is so excited to be a new part of PDT and she feels extremely blessed to have the opportunity to grow and share her love for dance at Piccoli’s.
