Class Descriptionshr

PDT has an incredibly diverse array of dance classes – ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, plus modern, acro, real musical theater, improv, men’s combination classes, and more.  Choosing the right dance classes can be difficult. In our class descriptions, you will find information about classes, dress code, styles, and ability level.  If your interested in learning about class combinations that go well together, please visit our Programs Of Study Page.  Of course, you’re always welcome to set an appointment with our studio director if you have any questions on finding the right set of classes.

The images below are a fun view and reminder of what to wear (and not to wear) to dance class

At PDT, ballet is considered a foundational dance form and one that all dancers should take.  Ballet classes are offered from ages 3 to adult with pre-ballet, levels 1 – 6, as well as men’s and adult classes.

Pointe is a recommended next step for those interested in ballet. We recommend that pre-pointe is taken at level 3 and pointe is taken at all upper levels (4, 5, 6).  Note that acceptance into pointe classes requires examination and approval from the studio director.  Pointe work requires a certain level of foot strength, flexibility, and growth to limit injury potential.  Pointe classes require serious commitment and attention from all students who participate.
