Brittany Hying has lived in Lincoln, NE since 2004. A graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Brittany has a bachelor’s degree in middle school education and a master’s degree in Educational Administration. A native of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Brittany received her dance education from Phyllis Balagna at Steppin’ Out-The Studio. Brittany is trained in ballet/pointe, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, tap, modern, and musical theater; and credits her training to the many teachers she has had throughout the years. She has taken classes from well-renowned dance educators including Mandy Moore, Joey Dowling, Joe Lanteri, Danny Wallace, Lauren Adams, Suzi Taylor, and Scott Jovovich. Brittany has also been involved in theater in both Missouri and Nebraska- performing with her high school, Lee’s Summit High School in The Wiz and Steel Pier, and regionally with Starlight Theater of Kansas City. Her awards include choreography awards for contemporary, lyrical, and open dance styles. In Nebraska, she has performed at both the Lincoln Community Playhouse (Cabaret, Sweet Charity, Babes in Toyland), and Pinewood Bowl (Cats, Crazy for You, White Christmas, 42nd Street). Brittany enjoys not only performing but choreographing and teaching. She has taught in the Lincoln area since 2004 and has provided choreography for Lincoln East’s musicals (All Shook Up, Little Shop of Horrors, Grease), show choirs at Lincoln Southeast and Pius X, Yutan High School (Brigadoon), the Lincoln East Apollonaire dance team (where she was a coach for 2 years) and several local churches. Brittany is currently a middle school teacher at District 145 in Waverly, and shares her life with her husband, Joel, and their four children.
