Bella Schmidt has studied many different dance styles over the past sixteen years, including ballet, lyrical, modern, jazz, hip hop, and character. Her focus fell to ballet after attending her first summer intensive at the age of thirteen at Kansas City Ballet, where she was instructed under Sean Duus, Karen P. Brown, and John Gardner. Upon returning to Lincoln, she began studying under Rachael Nye, furthering her ballet education and becoming versed with the Vaganova method. Bella also trained with Michele Starbuck, learning more about Paris Opera and Cecchetti techniques along with character dance. In addition to her summer in Kansas City, she has also attended the Bolshoi Ballet Summer Intensive and Indiana University’s summer ballet intensive. Bella was a company member of Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company, where she danced several roles in the Nutcracker, Snow White, and Cinderella. She also choreographed and performed in Lincoln High’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Bella is now a junior at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and studies French horn performance. She is looking forward to her second year at Piccoli Dance Theatre and sharing her passion for dance.
